Many of them are told about mental hospitals and other attractive places, and the reason for those stories is absolutely clear. Those places have closed inside their area things what were horrifying in the mind of people. In the past, the sending of mental institutes wound mean, that the person would ever meet his or her family and friends anymore, and also this person could not ever visit in the hometown. Some mental hospital patients have made terrible things, and normal people think that every mental hospital has the same kind of patients. And of course, some of the patients are acting in a strange way. This is the reason, why those places are told many things, what is not always even true.
