The story is very famous, and I would not return to it during this time. But sometimes I have thought that this man was a quite big risk for security in those prisons because he grew Pigeons. the bird, what is used for carrying the mail.

This is why Pigeons would be used to carry letters, but they can also carry drugs or even the weapons.
